Christine DeMaio, Ph.D. is a licensed, clinical psychologist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adults, adolescents, couples, and families. Dr. DeMaio has been in private practice since 2011.

Dr. DeMaio has extensive training in empirically-supported treatments with particular emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) and mindfulness-based approaches. These approaches include: Behavioral Activation, Exposure and Response Prevention (EX/RP), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).

Beginning over 25 years ago, Dr. DeMaio has held several positions in various clinical settings working with diverse populations. These settings include: Bellevue Hospital in New York City, a preventive foster care placement agency in Queens, New York, and a residential treatment center for adolescents in South Carolina.

Dr. DeMaio received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Arkansas in 2004. She completed her clinical internship at Yale University School of Medicine and her post-doctoral fellowship at The Center for Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (CCDBT) in Long Island, New York. Dr. DeMaio has served as interim Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) General Track team leader at Yale New Haven Hospital’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) DBT program where she provided supervision to Yale pre-doctoral fellows. She has been a Lecturer at Yale University where she provided supervision to clinical psychology graduate students.
